COUNTY TEAM SHEETHOME TO YORKSHIRE on the 5th /6th NOVEMBER 2005 Please remember that players MUST BE REGISTERED for consideration for selection.
News and highlights from the Yorkshire match Sat/Sun 5&6/11/05 Ladys B opened up our account with a win from Ged Carney. Although a steady start Ged won 3-0 taking the last leg with a 23 dart game and picked up Lady of the match.(17.89) Ladys B 2 - 4 At 2-4 down the Mens B first half had a similar fate (2-4), hard fought and apart from Yorkshire's Steve O'Donnell (28.90) were evenly match but out finished. Next 4 Legs went in our favour and included a great game from Phil Blackwell who scored no less than three 180s and four 140s to win 3-2 and picked up Man of the match.(27.77) Yorkshire took last two sets with a convincing 28.93 and 27.62 winning average. Mens B 6 - 6 Saturday closed with a respectable 8-10 in Yorkshires favour. Sally Dowell picking off the first point of the day with a 21.03 ave. for Ladys A managed to reduce most spectators finger nails considerably in the last leg which could have gone either way. With no nails left we chewed to the knuckle watching Wendy's last leg. (I know she would sympathise) Tricia had, what most felt, as the hardest draw of all. Karen Lawmen, who recently beat Anastasia Dobromyslova to qualify for the Lakeside World Championships. Tricia on top form took the first leg with a 19 darter. The next two legs Karen took with 20 & 16 dart finishes. Tricia leveled with the 4th leg in 17 darts. Then with no nails and no knuckles, Tricia, first to throw, took full advantage of the opportunity and won the last leg, I'm sure in the nick of time, saving double top for her last dart. Deservedly Lady of the Match with a 24.45 average. Karen's average(25.84) Ladys A 3 - 3 With Yorkshire still only 2 points in front things were looking optimistic for a tight result. The Mens A team averages at the end of the day told the story of Yorkshires strength and success. Kent 25.76 very respectable. Yorkshire 28.21 not easy to keep up with. The players who did keep up and won their games were: Danny Russell & Bob Linton who coincidentally had the same top average.(29.47) Very well played both. Unlucky not to win, was Gary Riley (28.64) and Gavin Forsyth (28.34) Mens A 2 - 10 Overall 13 - 23 to Yorkshire
