Thoughts on Finishing

Start thinking about your finish around the 230 mark.

Beware of the scores below 170 that you can't finish in three darts namely 169, 168, 166, 165, 163, 162, 159.

Sometime you can ruin your chance of a finish by not thinking about where your first dart should be going.

Example 119 left. Throw for 60 hit 20 and you can't finish. Throw for 57 hit 19 and you can still finish.

Example 132 left. Throw for 60 hit 20 and you can't finish. Throw for bulls eye hit 25 and you can still finish.

Only 4 possible finishes above 100 in 2 darts. 110, 107, 104 and 101.

Recommended ways to finish

Your finishing strategy should be plan A which could deviate to plan B and on some occasions plan C.

Aim for a treble where a miss into the single will still leave a finish option.

79  = Plan A 57 + Double 11  Plan B 19 + 20 + Double 20

73  + Plan A  57 + Double 8. Plan B 19 + 14 + Double 20

Beware of throwing for a single number where the treble of that number will bust you e.g.

54  = Plan A 18 + 32  Hit the treble 18 and there is no Plan B

Double 16 is a common favourite. It has potential to rip into 4 subsequent doubles.

Consider using the 25 for scores of 81 to 85. This gives you a good chance of a shot at a double without the need for a treble.

Don't forget to ask the scorer if you're not sure, take your time and work out your plan.

If you have an interesting finish lets share it.
